Our company officially has a name!

After a two votes, we finally chose an official name for our company. Up until now we were using the name of last year's class - The Laurelhurst Duck Detective Company. Our class this year decided that it's not just about the ducks, but about the whole pond itself. Therefore, we are the Firwood Lake Detective Company. The official name of the pond at Laurelhurst is Firwood Lake.

Algae Experiments

Here are some pictures of the experiments we are doing with algae. We have one jar of plain pond water, one with bread (to simulate leftovers from duck feeders), one with fertilizer (such as the fertilizer run-off from neighboring homes), one with snails, and one that receives no light. We also have two tanks of pond water: one with a bubbler and one without. We have been testing the turbidity of this water.
